Quality Time Activities

Most of us would like to spend more time with our kids; but with all the demands on our time- school, work, friends, after-school activities- it may seem like we're constantly driving from activity to activity with no real time to connect with our loved ones.

Each month, the Family Focus section will feature a new activity that you can try out with your kids. These activities are designed to encourage you to spend quality time with your kids and to open up the lines of communication. The activities will also help to reinforce those important character traits and build your child's self-esteem.

  • Tissue paper

  • Clear contact paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue sticks

  • Black construction paper

Directions

  1. Print out leaf templates on white cardstock and cut out excess paper and any paper inside of black outline. Make sure to have two identical leaf cutouts for each suncatcher.

  2. Cut up your tissue paper into small squares

  3. Place one leaf outline onto the stick side of a piece of contact paper.

  4. Begin layering the small squares of tissue paper onto the contact paper.

  5.  Place the second leaf outline on top of the tissue paper, lining it up with the first leaf. Place another piece of clear contact paper on top and press down to smooth out any bubbles. Trim the excess contact paper with scissors.
